Closing your account

Closing Your Account

If you need to close your account, here's what you need to know.

Before You Close

Please consider:

  • Downgrade first - Switch to a free plan
  • Export data - Download your information
  • Transfer domains - Move to another registrar
  • Cancel services - Avoid final charges

What Happens When You Close

Item What Happens
Domains Released after grace period
VPS Immediately terminated
Email Access removed, data deleted
Data Permanently deleted after 30 days
Invoices Retained for legal compliance

Steps to Close Account

  1. Export your data (see below)
  2. Transfer or let domains expire
  3. Cancel all active services
  4. Go to Settings > Account
  5. Click Close Account
  6. Enter your password
  7. Confirm closure

Exporting Your Data

Before closing, download:

  1. Go to Settings > Export Data
  2. Click Request Export
  3. Download includes:
    • Account information
    • Domain list
    • DNS records
    • Billing history
    • Support tickets

Domain Considerations

Domains You Want to Keep

  1. Unlock domains
  2. Get auth/EPP codes
  3. Transfer to new registrar
  4. Wait for transfer to complete
  5. Then close account

Domains You Don't Want

  • Will enter grace period
  • Then redemption period
  • Finally released publicly

Final Billing

  • Outstanding invoices must be paid
  • No refunds for partial periods (after 30 days)
  • Prepaid balance can be refunded (minus processing fees)

Reactivation

Account can be reactivated within 30 days:

  1. Contact support
  2. Verify your identity
  3. Account restored with data

After 30 days:

  • Data is permanently deleted
  • Account cannot be recovered
  • You can create a new account

Team Accounts

If you're the owner:

  1. Transfer ownership first, OR
  2. Remove all team members, THEN
  3. Close account

Alternative: Pause Account

Instead of closing:

  1. Cancel all paid services
  2. Keep account open
  3. Domains can remain registered
  4. No monthly fees on free plan
